3D Prototyping Gives Heritage New Legs
In partnership with Designblok at the University of Lincoln we’ve launched a new 3D prototyping service for clients looking for a bespoke product or a variation on an existing furniture leg or castor. Although we have over 200 different castors and 1,000 legs ready to ship to our customers worldwide, we are increasingly being asked to design something slightly different from what we already have in stock. Fast, efficient service It used to take several weeks to create a CAD file and then get a sample made and sent to the client for testing. However, thanks to our new partnership with the university’s new Designblok service, we can now create a sample using the university’s CAD 3D modelling software and 3D printers and ship it to the customer within a matter of days, thus significantly speeding up the whole design and manufacture process. The samples can be spray painted in a metallic finish and drilled to emulate the final product so that the customer can get a realistic idea of how it will look and fit. Get in touch The first product we have developed is a brass slipper cup to go on the end of a table leg and we’re now looking at designing new fixing options, particularly for table legs. However, whatever it is you need we’re always happy to discuss your ideas and try to come up with a solution. We work with furniture manufacturers, shop fitters, joinery and contracting service companies and product designers from around the world, and regularly work with companies on projects in the UK, Europe and North America.
